Silhouette Blog Hop: 'Life' Layout & Card Kit

Hello everyone! Welcome to Be Creative - Everyday and my jump on the Silhouette Blog Hop. I have two projects to share with you today. First up, is a layout I created using some of the Silhouette images. I can't seem to create a project lately without using my Silhouette machine. I love this thing! The designs are AMAZING and I have been hooked from day one! I love being able to create designs in whatever paper & size I need! I have been using my machine on my hubby's old laptop and I finally got it set up to use my printer so I can use the Print & Cut feature! Now, I can't stop doing that too! :) So fun!

I created this layout to go into a frame in our entry way so it is very one-dimensional. I just wanted to keep it clean...but detailed! And that's why I love the Silhouette - I can add so many little details with tone on tone cuts or by layering things - to make those little details and textures that I love on my projects.

I used the following designs on this project:

- Large Vine in white cardstock
   vine_1417

- 'Life' title in gray patterned paper
   phrase_life_1885
- Stripe Background in green on top of green cardstock (tone-on-tone)
  stripe_background_C00040_19547
- Yellow Label on side and tucked under photo

I also used some of my favorite stamps from Studio Calico (buttons) and embossed them with clear embossing powder. I also used some letter pressed pieces that I had previously made with my L Letterpress machine with the damask design and hot pink ink. I added some stamping, lace, string, flower, brads and lots of sewing to finish the page. I love what the Silhouette designs did to this page!

For my second project, I made a little 'card kit' for my Mom and Sisters. Every year, we have a 'Girl's Retreat' where just us sisters and my mom go away for a few days to bond, quilt, scrapbook, eat, watch movies...and inspire one another to be better mothers, wives and individuals. Well, I'm super excited cause this morning, I am off to my 'Girls Retreat'!

Each year, we all bring a 'giveaway' for everyone and we do someone's giveaway each day. So this year, I thought I would make everyone a simple 'card kit' with all the supplies they need to make a simple and quick card for a friend.
The outside of the metal tins are embellished with a simple strip of ribbon and a custom 'print-and-cut' that I create with a Silhouette label (same label design listed above) and my own text inside it.
On the inside, I included 10 white cards with rounded corners, envelopes, yards of ribbon & string, clear buttons and the cutest Silhouette labels cut in various colors of cardstock. I am bringing some stamps and black ink so they can stamp various sayings on the labels and go home with a complete kit for card making. I hope that it will help simplify their life and that they will enjoy this little kit.

Thanks for coming by and I hope that you'll continue to visit me here for more creative inspiration! Your next stop on the Silhouette blog hop is the one and only, fabulous Silhouette designer and expert...
