American Crafts Doily Home Decor Project

This is a simple home decor item that I made for my bedroom. Our bed is black/brown and we got a new dresser to match - but the only color in our room is the light blue/greenish quilt and bedding on our bed. So, I wanted to bring some of the color from our bedding...to the dresser to help tie the two sides of our room together.

I had this linen frame (that matches the linen bedskirt on my bed) and I thought it would be fun to use my Silhouette machine to die-cut something and put it in the frame. I matched a piece of cardstock to my quilt and used a beautiful doily image from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy line.

American Crafts have the cutest images in the Silhouette store and I thought the doily was perfect! So, I cut the image out at about 6" wide, cut out a few circles for the middle and used a black jewelry metal piece and a large jewel for the middle. It is so simple and yet it adds the perfect touch of color to the room. Love simple projects like that! :)

I just got back from hearing Nie Nie speak at BYU - it was amazing! She is so beautiful and shared such a wonderful message with everyone! The turnout was overwhelming - they clearly didn't plan for that many people! But, it was so neat to see the support and love for Stephanie! I have been following her for so long and I am continually amazed by her strength, her power within her and her beauty - inside and out! I won't forget it! She did an amazing job and I'm so happy I was there to see her and hear her speak tonight!

Ok, off to see hubby who just walked in the door from a trip! Have a good nite!

Noteworthy Bits No. 1

I always think of random things that I want to share so I'm going to do a 'Noteworthy Bits' post, every once in awhile to share a bunch of little, random things. So...here we go.

1. I've been waiting and waiting for these Photo Label stamps from Studio Calico to come in and they arrived at the Two Peas store today. I'm so excited to get these!! I also threw in some of their Mr. Heuys Mists in my order as well! I've heard they are wonderful and they'll be fun to play with!

2. Another item from CHA (trade show in July) that I have been super anxious to get, are these Max stamps from American Crafts! I love them - big time! I know I'll be getting some from American Crafts to work with - but I couldn't wait!! I snatched them up the instant I found them! They are fabulous!!
3. In all the craziness this summer, I never shared about being the Guest Designer for Lily Bee Designs. I was excited to design with their fabulous papers and rubons! It was way fun! The color scheme and designs were so fun to dig into. Here are my projects and you can check out their site here and their fun blog here.
4. I am really curious about this new stamp club from Ali (love her new site) and Technique Tuesday. I love all her stamps and this seems like a good deal. I may have to sign up for this one!

5. I keep reading about the amazing prints people are receiving from Persnickety Prints. I've been needed to fill some large frames so I added my photos to their site and when I went to order...I realized that they are located here in Utah, 10 minutes away! So excited to just go pick up my prints! I can't wait to share them in the frames! Hopefully this week I'll get them back!

6. My sweet lil' nephew, Paxton, had heart surgery on Friday. He is doing pretty good since but they can always use your prayers! They had quite the miracle with his heart over the past two weeks...I know it's because of everyones prayers! So thank you!

7. I received this new Jonathan Adler iphone case for my phone this week and I absolutely love it! The colors are amazing - exactly what I was looking for!! It also has that soft suedy feel to the hard cover - so yummy to hold!! I ordered it from See Jane Work, but Paper Source also is carrying it right now.

I know that there was more that I wanted to share, but I better run. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Home Decor Inspiration: Vintage Metal/Wire Baskets

My thoughts have been wrapped up in decorating my home lately. Room by room, I've been analyzing what I want to change, what my vision for that space is and how I can make it happen. One thing that I always love searching for...are fun storage pieces. I have always loved vintage lockers and the vintage locker buckets. They are timeless and I love the way they look in a modern or traditional home. Here are a few of my favs lately:

Schoolhouse Wire Basket from Restoration Hardware
How fun would this be next to your sofa, desk, even as a garbage can with a fun canvas liner! Love it!

Pool Locker Baskets
My Mom just got some of these and they are beautiful! There is also a great selection of these on Etsy - I search for them regularly. Great finds there!

PE Collection Wall Pockets at Ballard Designs
I absolutely love these! I really wanted to get the 2 side-by-side pocket organizer to put my 12x12 papers in but they don't fit 12x12 paper. They are just a tad short. But, the single pockets do! So, I'm planning on buying two of the single pockets to put on the left side wall of my desk so I can easily reach over for my most used colors of cardstock and patterned papers. Love the look of these!

Toscano Wire Basket at Pottery Barn
The size of these are great! When your looking for metal/wire baskets, be sure to look at how tight the metal is weaved together. Larger weaves like these baskets are great for towels, linens, books, etc. Or, fill it with a liner or a fun array of bowls for smaller items and collections. And any basket with a vintage label or a place for you to put your own label, like these baskets, are a win-win in my book!

Wire Basket with Handles from Pottery Barn
These baskets have a very loose weave to them and yet I love how uneven and rustic they look. I like how they lined the baskets with a simple kraft wrapping paper...what a great, inexpensive idea!

Old School Locker Baskets from Land of Nod
These look exactly like the old school locker baskets - yet they are new. I have three of these and absolutely love them! Great quality and you can't beat the look! Again, search on etsy or ebay for these as well. Great authentic vintage baskets there.

Some more options: Fun colored baskets, Wire Bins for balls, bats, etc., Closed Locker Bins from Pottery Barn Teen in fun color choices, & Galvinized Metal Bins
Peddlers
One of my most favorite sites for all things vintage'y' wire, storage and amazing photo display items is Peddlers! They are amazing! I wish I could buy direct on their site (they only sell to retailers)! Finding their items are a bit harder but I love them! Check out their whole site - such amazing finds!

Fun options huh! I just love the look they add to a home! I've got my own collection here and can't wait to add more in various places in our home. Hope this inspired you to get organized!

I'll be back soon with my cards for American Crafts...have to take photos of them! Have a good one!
